I believe in preventing the aging process using the newest technologies available, including new possibilities offered by injectables for skin treatments. Whether it is to improve aging skin or to give more volume for certain facial areas, injectables may be a good treatment for you. Many patients who are just beginning to show aging signs or facial aging desire improvement, but cannot justify the cost or time investment required for skin surgical intervention. The rapidly expanding repertoire of injectables is perfect to suit their needs. Injection can be performed during an office visit rather than requiring a trip to the operating room.
Botox is a medicine that selectively relaxes muscles. If you have lines that are caused by muscle movement, such as frown lines and crow’s-feet, they can be softened with Botox. Botox can also be used to treat excessive sweating in feet and underarms. The injections are relatively painless and done in our clinic. The effects are noticeable at about 3-5 days after treatment and should last about 3-4 months. If it’s done properly and professionally, Botox doesn’t have to leave you with a frozen look. I spend time to make sure you look natural, relaxed, rested and happy. I examine and consider each patient’s facial movement and wrinkles, then adjust accordingly.
There are non-surgical options beyond Botox. Facial fillers such as Restylane®, Juvederm™ and Perlane, are injected under the skin to “plump up,” contour and smooth wrinkles, lines and hollow areas in the face. They also augment the lips or cheeks for a younger, fresher and fuller appearance. Many women choose to use these fillers, or softlifts, rather than undergoing surgical procedures to maintain a youthful appearance and camouflage aging.
What can fillers do for you? Restore volume lost during the aging process. For example, reduce the facial lines around your nose, camouflage dark circles under the eye, fill in deeper wrinkles or plump up your lips.
Fillers are done in our clinic and results are immediate. Some patients experience swelling and bruising during the first 2 days. Results last anywhere from 6-12 months.
