If you like the way your breasts look in a bra, and want them to stay that way when the bra is off, a breast lift might be the right choice for you. Women who experience the effects of breast deflation after childbirth or rapid weight loss benefit from breast lifts to regain their optimal shape. The goal of this breast surgery is to improve the position of the breast on the chest wall and to make sure that the nipple is nicely centered.

A breast lift does not add volume to the breast, nor does not add firmness. It is really a shaping and lifting procedure. Some patients will add a breast implant to increase breast volume or improve firmness.

In my practice, my preferred operation is a “vertical” breast lift where the “lollypop” shaped incisions are placed around the areola and a line extending down at the 6 o’clock position. The scars are placed on the most discreet part of your breast and can be hidden even by the tiniest Brazilian bikini. There are some women who need a little bit more skin removed and we are able to achieve this with a vertical breast lift. For these ladies and “L” shaped scar or “boat-anchor” incision may be necessary.

Combine with breast augmentation. Some patients may combine with ultra sound assisted VASER liposuction to remove bra rolls or “back-fat”.

Breast Lift with auto-augmentation

This 28 year-old mother of one displayed grade three ptosis with dislocation of the gland over the inframammary folds. The patent wishes to keep approximately the same breast volume but improve the upper pole fullness. She underwent a mastopexy with auto-augmentation.

How long is the surgery?

10-14 days before you can go back to an office job. 4 weeks until intense physical exercise to ensure thin scars.

When can I resume physical exercise?
4 weeks.

Painful?
There is minimal pain, which is always surprising to my patients after the operation. The pain is similar to pre-menstrual breast pain that is easily relieved with Tylenol. If liposuction is used in combination these areas may be more tender.

When can I go home?
The same day as surgery.

When can I shower?
A waterproof bandage is applied in the operating room allowing showering immediately after surgery. The bandage can be changed after 48 hours.
